Canon Future Nation introduces cutting edge digital cameras

Canon Marketing Philippines shook up the imaging industry with the launch of seven new cutting-edge cameras in an ambitious staging of the event dubbed “Canon Future Nation.” Held in the dramatic 600-square-meter hall of Whitespace Makati, Canon Future Nation treated key press and business partners to an exciting showcase of innovation and passion for customer delight as embodied by its latest gadget offerings: the prosumer PowerShot G11 and S90, the telephoto PowerShot SX20 IS and SX120 IS, the slim and stylish Digital IXUS 120 IS and 200 IS, and the much-anticipated EOS 7D DSLR.

All of Canon’s new digital compact cameras incorporate the improved Smart AUTO Mode with Scene Detection Technology. This handy feature enables Canon cameras to analyze shooting situations—type of subject, color information, movement and focusing distance—and to automatically select the optimal settings to give users the best shots every time. With Smart AUTO, users are freed from the effort of switching from Macro to Portrait, Night Snapshot to Slow Shutter, and 18 other specially defined settings that are designed to give users the confidence to shoot creatively, knowing that the camera has all the technical details covered.

Moreover, Canon is to date the only manufacturer to feature Servo AF/AE, which enables the camera to continuously adjust focus and exposure even after the shutter button has been pressed halfway.

From the PowerShot range, the RAW-capable G11 and S90 take the prosumer spotlight with two key innovations: the Dual Anti-Noise System, which builds on the power of DIGIC 4 to significantly improve low-light performance, and a 10-Megapixel High-Sensitivity CCD sensor that features bigger photodiodes, effectively optimizing per-pixel sensitivity. The result? Images that are “cleaner” and more brilliant than ever. The G11 stands out with an all-new Vari-angle LCD screen and a classic DSLR-like body, while the S90 impresses with its bright, F/2.0 lens packed in a slim and solid form.

Great bets for compacts to capture the fancy of travelers and sports photographers are the PowerShot SX20 IS and SX120 IS, versatile models that can capture macro shots at 0cm to super zoom shots at 20x and 10x Optical Zoom, respectively. Both models are also armed with DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor and 720p HD Movie Recording.

Strengthening the smart and sophisticated Digital IXUS line are two groundbreaking slim cameras: the IXUS 120 IS, Canon’s slimmest 28mm camera to date, and the IXUS 200 IS, the brand’s first-ever touch panel model. Equipped with 12.1-Megapixel sensors, both these cameras can take 720p HD stills and movies and come in a wide range of classic colors.

Last but certainly not the least, the most awaited addition to the EOS Digital family, EOS 7D, saw the dawn of Philippine market. EOS 7D is built for the demanding advanced amateur photographer who would invest in the right equipment to achieve the desired results. Powered by two DIGIC 4 processors, the EOS 7D offers the highest quality images in its class with an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor (APS-C size) and user-selectable sensitivity range from ISO 100-6400 (expandable to ISO 12,800). It also features a high continuous shooting rate of 8fps to capture fast-moving action sequences at a maximum burst of approximately 94 shots for large/fine jpeg images, and 15 shots in RAW.
